You Are Lovely, Angie

We at Recovery Café would like to recognize Angie Anstett for her dedication to our recovery community.

Angie is the mother to five children, three girls and two boys and grandma to soon to be five grandchildren, three boys and two girls.  She works at Axis Health in Grants Pass and lives in Central Point.

As a volunteer, Angie comes to the Cafe every other Sunday and often on Tuesday to make delicious espresso drinks for our members and volunteers.  She participates in classes and is always willing to fill in at a moment’s notice.

Angie has a quiet presence about her but that shouldn’t be taken for timidity.  She knows who she is and what her purpose is.  Angie is a gifted writer.  She started the, “You Are Lovely Project” to honor her son Tyler’s death.  She writes about hard things: death, suicide, mental health, addiction and life challenges.  She also writes people’s stories and shares them on her “You Are Lovely” blog.  In one of her recent posts, Angie wrote this, “. . . I wish with my whole heart that when people saw us that they would see the amazing side of what we’ve overcome and not just see the things we’ve done or have been done to us because like I always say, we all have a story and the most beautiful stories are of those who picked themselves up, chose another way, learned from it, and fought to be who they are today.”

Angie has a beautiful heart for others; in another post she wrote about why she does what she does.  She said, “My hope . . . that lies would be exposed, stigmas would be destroyed, you would know you’re loved, you would know your worth, you would never doubt that you matter and that you are needed here”.  This is our hope as well.

Angie, thank you for what you do for so many and for the light you shine.  Your kindness, generosity and loving spirit does not go unrecognized.
