Survivors of Addiction Podcast

by Kristy Laschober, Community Resource Director

It wasn’t that long ago that I was sitting in a prison cell without hope for the future. So, the idea that I would be sitting in a technically superior sound studio, co-hosting a national podcast with a fellow, formerly incarcerated individual, indicates that one should never, ever give up hope.

Have you listened to the Survivors of Addiction podcast yet?

It’s a dream come true for Brandon Orr and me to share our experience, strength, and hope with listeners from all over the country. Every month we flood the airwaves with vulnerable, personal stories and sprinkle them with truths of shameful situations and hard lessons learned. Brandon and I come from very different backgrounds beginning in different parts of the country, yet the evilness of drug addiction brought us to the exact same posture – wearing handcuffs behind our backs.

Gratitude and a thirst for serving others are at the core of the Survivors of Addiction podcast. We discuss what got us into trying drugs in the first place, why we couldn’t/didn’t stop, and how we were finally able to break free from addiction. Brandon and I share our varied perspectives on recovery, connection, relationships, self-reflection, and how we know we are in the middle of recovery.

In our latest episode, we examine the benefits of forgiveness and why it’s so important to release feelings of resentment so we can live a full and thriving, purposeful life. Whether you struggle with addiction, have a loved one that does, or are simply curious about how to live a life of pure freedom, tune into the Survivors of Addiction podcast and leave a comment so we know you were there.
